A video of a street cat in Burgas, filmed by an influencer and host of the local "Eurovision" event, has garnered over 50 thousand views on international platforms. The clip, titled "Friendly Chonk", has achieved global popularity across social media. According to capital media outlets, searching for the name "Friendly Chonk" on Google leads directly to international channels with audiences on par with "Eurovision".
In the midst of the heatwave, the fluffy Mara has settled into her summer residence behind one of the shops on Bogoridi Blvd. There, she rests undisturbed by dozens of local and foreign tourists who want to pet her or take photos with her. Some visitors share photos with comments calling her "the most official cat in Burgas".
"A very affectionate and friendly cat. In my opinion, she was a pet and was thrown out," Daniel shares.
Mara is well known to the employees in the shops, kiosks, and offices around the boulevard. Although she lives on the street, she is not entirely homeless, as local residents feed her, care for her, and look after her medical needs.
People working on "Bogoridi" are already joking that Mara could even play the role of a mascot for "Eurovision". Various suggestions are being sought for this massive musical event, and among the proposed mascots for this prestigious location are:
