Judge Galya Ruseva of the Burgas Regional Court is one of the full members of the election commission chosen by the General Assembly of Judges, which will elect members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).
The assembly will have two chairs. Judges agreed to this on a proposal by Galina Zaharova, president of the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC).
The chairs are judge Mimi Furnadzhieva of the SCC, put forward by Zaharova, and judge Sibila Simeonova of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC), proposed by Vanya Ancheva, acting president of the SAC. They were elected with 592 votes for and 24 against.
The election commission has 9 full members and 7 reserves. Besides Ruseva, the full members are Biser Troyanov and Kristiyana Genkovska of the SCC, Petar Mitev and Plamen Atanasov of the Varna Regional Court, and Stela Dincheva of the SAC. The others are Rositsa Tsvetkova of the Administrative Court Sofia City (ACSC), Vera Tsvetkova of the Sofia Court of Appeal and Rositsa Vasileva of the Plovdiv District Court.
On 20 October we reported that a five-judge panel of the SCC and SAC overturned the refusal of the Judges' Panel of the SJC to let Burgas district judge Krasimira Doneva take part in the election of council members from the judges' quota.
The reserve members are Iliyana Stoilova of the Sofia Court of Appeal, Antoni Yordanov of the ACSC and Nikolay Golchev of the Plovdiv District Court. Desislava Alexieva and Rositsa Velkova of the Sofia District Court, and Dimitar Mirchev and Evgeni Georgiev of the Sofia City Court, are also reserves.
