Artur Vlasenko and Ivelina Karcheva of the Burgas Sport Dance Club won bronze medals at the World Standard Dance Championship for under-21s in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, the club said.
The pair finished third among 45 competitors from around the world and are in the top three of their age group.
Vlasenko and Karcheva are the lead couple for Burgas and Bulgaria. The club calls the medal a historic achievement for Bulgarian sport dance. It says the success is a source of national pride and shows that Burgas is raising dancers of the highest international class.
Before Rotterdam, the pair performed strongly at the European Championship in Burgas on 26 September. The world event was their last major competition of the year, but their 2026 season is not over yet.
Club management puts the result down to years of work, persistence and discipline by the dancers and their coaching team.
Club chairman Yavor Valchev and the management thanked Burgas council for its steady support of the dancers and for the growth of sport dance in the city. They said this support gives young talents the chance to develop and compete at the highest international level.
