Burgas Municipality has announced a large-scale initiative - transforming the city into a pink sea during the Giro d'Italia 2026. The race will start from Burgas, with the city hosting the first two stages. The finish of the opening stage (May 8, 2026) will take place in Burgas.
Why pink? The pink color (Maglia Rosa) has been a symbol of the Giro d'Italia since 1931, associated with the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, which organizes the race. Pink symbolizes the passion for cycling.
How to participate?
- Decorate shop windows, balconies, and entrances with pink decorations.
- Wear pink on May 8th.
- Restaurants and hotels: prepare pink menus and packages.
- Businesses: illuminate your facades in pink.
- Citizens: share photos with the hashtag #BurgasInPink and #GirodItalia2026.
The initiative is part of the global campaign Giro d'Italia Città in Rosa. In Burgas, there are already branded buses and a special website.
