Tomorrow, August 29, which is Friday, residents and visitors of Burgas will have the opportunity to take advantage of free, anonymous, and voluntary HIV/AIDS testing. A specialized mobile unit will be located at one of the most emblematic spots in the city — at “The Clock”, where lively summer life has been bustling in recent days. The event will take place from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

National Summer ANTI-AIDS Campaign

The initiative is part of the final stage of the National Summer ANTI-AIDS Campaign, which this year was held under the motto

"Pay It Forward: a summer without risk."
The organization and execution in Burgas are thanks to the efforts of teams from the Regional Health Inspectorate and the “Healthcare, Prevention, and Social Activities” directorate at the Municipality of Burgas. The mobile laboratory will provide an opportunity for fast and confidential consultation and testing, which is key to the early detection of the infection and the prevention of its spread.

As part of the large-scale initiative, volunteers from the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross – Burgas will distribute health information materials. They will provide citizens with flyers and brochures that contain important information about the ways the virus is transmitted and how to protect oneself. The focus will be on promoting the use of protective measures as the most effective method for preventing sexually transmitted infections.

The main goal of the campaign is to raise awareness among young people and at-risk groups. Experts emphasize that knowing the ways of infection and prevention is the first and most important step towards limiting the spread of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Free Treatment and Current Data

The national Ministry of Health provides free modern treatment with antiretroviral medications for all those with HIV/AIDS who need it, regardless of their health insurance status. This commitment ensures that no one is left without access to vital therapy due to financial difficulties. According to current data:
