Burgas held a military ceremony on Archangel Michael's Day of the Dead to honour Bulgarian soldiers who died in service. It took place at the monument to the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment.

Deputy regional governor Georgi Madzharov and deputy mayor Stanimir Apostolov attended, along with representatives of military units and local Orthodox clergy.

Residents, among them families with young children, gathered to pay their respects. They laid wreaths and flowers, and a brass band played during the ceremony.

Earlier in the day, a citywide memorial service was held at the Cemetery Park, on the square in front of the Funeral Hall. The brass band played funeral music and a requiem prayer was said.

People then laid flowers on the graves of prominent Burgas residents.
