The open-air cultural space "Ohlyuva" will become the epicenter of an emotional event that will bring back memories of one of the most significant Bulgarian filmmakers. On August 4 at 9:00 PM, Burgas will immerse itself in the atmosphere of film art dedicated to Lyudmil Todorov.

The special evening includes a screening of the cult film "The Love Summer of a Leohman" and the presentation of a new book edition that documents the creation of this remarkable cinematographic project. The initiative coincides with three significant anniversaries: 70 years since the director's birth, 50 years since his graduation from the English High School in Ruse, and 35 years since the film's premiere.

The edition contains the original screenplay and personal memories that recreate the atmosphere of that sunny summer near Shabla, when Todorov and his creative team created more than a film - they built a generational myth that touches the consciousness of many viewers.

The film reveals the intimate story of four teenagers in their pivotal period - the last carefree summer filled with love, doubts, and unexpected growth. The characters are inspired by real students from the Ruse English High School who cross the boundary between youth and maturity.

Zlatna Kostova, the artist's wife and event's conceptual organizer, shares: "Life and memory cannot be enclosed in words. They remain in films, in people's paths. We want to create a special meeting for all who knew Lyudmil, and for those who are yet to discover him."

Todorov's creative biography includes an impressive list of feature films: "Running Dogs", "Emilia's Friends", "Two Men Outside the City", "Emigrants", "Seamstresses", and "Bonito Migration". Parallel to cinematography, he was an established prose writer with numerous collections and novels.

The leading theme in his work is the existential clash of a person with their own destiny - sometimes tender and romantic, other times brutally frank, and sometimes filled with ironic distance.

The initiative is realized in partnership with the Burgas Municipality, and the tribute to the artist will continue to preserve his artistic legacy. Lyudmil Todorov left this world on November 22, 2023, but his films and books remain a lasting trace in Bulgarian culture.
