The Bulgarian Tourist Union (BTS) has launched a specialized mobile application, according to media reports. The platform consolidates a variety of useful resources for travelers, including detailed maps, planned routes, orientation tools, up-to-date information on upcoming cultural events, and details about natural and historical sites across Bulgaria.
According to the chairman of the BTS, Ventsislav Venev, the software also provides users with access to specific bonuses and benefits at accommodation facilities managed by the union, as well as throughout their partner network. Regarding the functionality of "Bulgaria 100", Venev notes: "You can find accommodation, interesting events, and interesting sites to visit – historical, natural, and cultural. This application has an entire section dedicated to maps and navigation. Navigation can take you to any point you desire, and if you are ever in distress, it can lead you to a familiar place, guide you home, or take you back to the starting point from which you set off."
The application provides current weather reports and locates landmarks in the immediate vicinity of the user. By setting a specific radius relative to their current position, tourists receive information about upcoming interesting events in the region. The application also features links to the BTS platform for searching for tourists in distress, as well as the tag "The world is more interesting than it seems," and readers can receive new route suggestions directly in their email.
The basic download and use of the application are completely free. However, the organization provides the option for upgrades through two levels of subscription plans:
- "blue tourist passport";
- "green tourist passport".
Holders of these passports receive additional privileges and discounts, which apply both to BTS facilities and all sites in partnership with the organization.
