Registration for free examinations for severe atopic dermatitis, which will be held in November in eight cities in the country, begins today. The organizers of the campaign, which bears the name "Back in Your Skin", announced the beginning of the initiative, supported by the Bulgarian Dermatological Society.

The campaign will cover a significant part of the country, with leading dermatologists from Sofia, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, Pleven, Varna, Ruse and Shumen participating. Examinations will be available throughout the month of November, providing an opportunity for consultation to many in need. Registration for an appointment is open until October 31. Those wishing to do so can contact the organizers by phone at 0876 984 552, with calls being accepted every weekday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The consultations are intended for patients who have already been diagnosed with atopic dermatitis or are suffering from a severe form of the disease. It is important to note that examinations will only be performed on adults and adolescents over the age of 12.

According to available information, in Bulgaria about 400,000 children and 200,000 adults are affected by atopic dermatitis. This is a chronic disease that causes inflammation, severe itching, and dry skin. It is considered one of the most common and severe forms of eczema, which usually starts in childhood but can also occur at a later age. A worrying statistic shows that over 80% of those suffering from severe forms of atopic dermatitis sleep less than an hour and a half a night. Moreover, every third patient with a severe form develops depression or anxiety.

There is good news for patients, as there are treatments for severe atopic dermatitis covered by the National Health Insurance Fund.

In Sofia, the initiative is supported by a large number of medical institutions. Among them are UMBAL "Alexandrovska" (Clinic of Skin and Venereal Diseases), Adzhibadem City Clinic UMBAL Tokuda, Military Medical Academy, Clinic "EvroDerma", UMBAL "Sofiamed" and MBAL "Sveta Sofia".

In Sliven, free examinations will be offered at the Center for Skin and Venereal Diseases, and in Stara Zagora - at UMBAL "Prof. Dr. Stoyan Kirkovich".

In Plovdiv, patients will be able to consult with Dr. Teodor Aleksiev (Maritsa Blvd. No. 31), Dr. Boyan Kostov (Dame Gruev St. No. 1 "a"), Dr. Gergana Vazheva (Tsar Boris III Obedinitel Blvd. No. 161), as well as Dr. Lidia Todorova (Tsar Boris III Obedinitel Blvd. No. 161).

For the residents of Pleven, examinations will be held at the Cordis Medical Center. In Varna, the campaign is supported by UMBAL "Sveta Marina", in Shumen - by the Skin Disease Cabinet, and in Ruse - by the Specialized Cabinet for Skin Diseases and Cosmetic Dermatology.

There is more and more talk about biological therapy as an effective method for treating allergic diseases. The topic was among the main highlights during the Eighth National Conference on Allergology, organized by the Bulgarian Society of Allergology in May.
