Free Wi-Fi is now available in the pedestrian zone of Old Nesebar, set up jointly by Nesebar municipality, A1 and A1 Towers.
The devices that send out the signal are fitted on some of the street lamps. Each one covers over 100 meters and can handle up to 500 people at once, though speed and range depend on weather and visibility.
Once you step into a covered area, a Nesebar municipality page pops up on your phone, letting you join the network.
"Giving free access to good internet in the historic part of town is a key step in our plan to modernize the city. This service makes daily life easier for our residents and, at the same time, adds to what we offer visitors, giving our many guests fast, easy communication as they explore the rich cultural heritage of the Old Town," said Nesebar mayor Nikolay Dimitrov.
He said working with business and leading tech companies is key to bringing in new technology that can sit alongside Nesebar's thousand-year-old heritage.
