In an official statement, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Rosen Zhelezkov expressed harsh criticism towards the position of the Russian Federation regarding the war in Ukraine. According to him, the ultimatums posed by Moscow sound like "an echo from the tyrannical times of the USSR". Zhelezkov emphasized that he sees no will for a genuine ceasefire from the Russian side, drawing a parallel with "the dark era of Soviet domination".

The Bulgarian Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the United States and Turkey for their efforts in seeking a diplomatic solution to the conflict, but added that given Moscow's current stance, the negotiations are "hopeless".
