The leading tennis duo with Bulgarian representative Pyotr Nesterov suffered an unexpected defeat during an international tournament in Denmark. The athletes Nesterov and Eric Vanshelboyم, seeded as first, lost an extremely dramatic match against the local players Benjamin Hanestad and Sebastian Jorgensen.
The match, which lasted 80 intense minutes, ended with a final score of 6:3, 1:6, 3-10 in favor of the Danish pair. The decisive tiebreak developed extremely unfavorably for the Bulgarian national, who fell critically behind in the score - initially 1:3, and then 2:7.
22-year-old Nesterov, who was the leader in the individual bracket, was additionally eliminated in the singles format. On Wednesday, he lost to British tennis player Toby Samuel after a contested three-set match with a score of 5:7, 6:4, 4:6.
Before this tournament, Nesterov was a finalist in a similar competition of the same rank, held earlier this month in Germany.
