On July 24 this year, the Consul General of Bulgaria in Munich, Stefan Yonkov, attended the official opening of an innovative agrivoltaic project at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), which demonstrates an exceptional approach to sustainable agriculture and renewable energy production.
The project presents a unique technical solution with bilateral vertical silicon photovoltaic modules, allowing simultaneous cultivation of agricultural crops and electricity generation. This modern technology not only optimizes the use of agricultural land but also creates an improved microclimatic environment for plants.
A key driver behind the initiative is Dr. Veselinka Koch – a Bavarian expert of Bulgarian origin, who has been researching the potential of agrivoltaic technologies since 2002. Through her company "Solagria BAY BG", she sets the ambitious goal of making this technology economically accessible and beneficial for agricultural producers.
Specialists emphasize the significant contribution of Bulgarian engineering teams, who have contributed their rich experience in building photovoltaic parks. This project is viewed as another proof of the leading role of Bulgarian experts in the transition to green energy in the European Union.
The Consulate General expressed official support and satisfaction with the achieved results, while expecting future innovative international collaborations in the field of sustainable development.
