Coach Margarita Marinkova expressed confidence in the potential of the young women's national basketball team before the upcoming European Championship in Hungary. The team will start its participation today at 18:30 in a match against Serbia, which will be part of Group A of the tournament.
In the group, besides the two leading teams, there will also be opponents marked as weaker - Albania and Denmark. Despite this, the coach emphasizes that no opponents should be underestimated.
During the preparatory camp, Marinkova shared extremely positive impressions of working with the team. "We have been working together for years and are like a real family," she said. The coach highlighted the strong collective relationships and mutual trust between the players.
During the preparation, the team has held six control matches, which have served to refine tactics and eliminate previously made mistakes. Marinkova is confident that they are ready to achieve the best possible result.
The Serbian team is considered the main favorite in the group, possessing strong individual qualities and an aggressive defensive tactic. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian coach believes that with the right strategy - fast play, aggressive defense, and good fighting under the basket - the team can achieve the desired ranking.
The main goal of the Bulgarian national team is to advance to the top Division A, after being on the verge of this achievement last year. Margarita Marinkova expressed confidence that the current generation of basketball players has the potential to realize this ambitious plan.
