Bulgaria participates in key discussions on the future of the EU
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva represented Bulgaria at the regular meeting of the General Affairs Council in Luxembourg. The main focus of the meeting was the negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) of the EU for the period 2028 – 2034.
"We welcome the Presidency's approach to maintain the allocation of funds to member states through National and Regional Partnership Plans," Tasheva stated.
Key priorities for Bulgaria:
- Competitiveness: Support for the new European Fund for Innovation and Technology.
- Budget balance: Insistence on fair revenue and avoiding a disproportionate burden on member states.
- Protection of rights: Raising the issue of the incident at the Bulgarian embassy in Skopje and combating hate speech.
During the meeting, current geopolitical topics were also discussed, including the situation in Ukraine and the Middle East, preparing the agenda for the upcoming European Council.
