Prime Minister Rumen Radev presented priority strategic national infrastructure projects to the construction sector, which are receiving intensive support and coordination from the European Commission. The Prime Minister thanked the Ministers of Transport and Foreign Affairs for their efforts over the past few months, aimed at making these initiatives a key part of the European connectivity network and securing significant financial inflows.
For the Prime Minister, the upcoming connectivity summit with Central Asia and the Middle East is proof that Bulgaria's role is not limited to passive observation. Our country is establishing itself as an entity that generates strategic solutions for the future of Europe, which explains the explicit mention of Bulgaria in the European Commission President's report. Radev is convinced that this recognition goes beyond the scope of geographical location:
- "Our geography has been the same since Bulgaria became a member of the European Union. This is actually an expression of trust in our government for the political will and initiative that both contribute to greater efficiency of European policies and, at the same time, elevate Bulgaria's role as an important regional factor."
Before his cabinet ministers, the Prime Minister responded to domestic political criticism that the government is leading the country toward diplomatic isolation:
- "Certain domestic circles continuously suggest that our government's foreign policy will leave Bulgaria on the periphery of Europe, without political weight and without allies. Yesterday we saw the opposite. Bulgaria is neither on the periphery nor in isolation. On the contrary, Bulgaria is at the center of the political conversation regarding Europe's economic perspective and sustainability."
In this context, Radev views the selection of our country to host the transport connectivity forum — a decision announced yesterday by Ursula von der Leyen — not merely as a technical event, but as a clear signal of the high trust our European partners have in the current administration.
