Bulgaria is preparing for a historic change: Entry into the Eurozone is approaching, and preparations are in full swing. Less than a month and a half remain until the transition to the common European currency, with efforts directed at all institutions and organizations, including Bulgarian Posts. Our team visited Burgas to get acquainted up close with the preparations taking place in the branches of the postal service.

The atmosphere in the offices is tense, but at the same time – calm and focused. Teams of employees are undergoing intensive training, and the equipment is being updated to meet the new requirements. 24-hour video surveillance is being installed for maximum security.

In an exclusive interview for our agency, Lilyana Dragova, manager of the "Southeast Region" Regional Directorate of "Bulgarian Posts", shared details about the progress of the preparations. "Preparations are still ongoing," she emphasized. "We have gone through training of our employees on the structures of the new banknotes, how to recognize their authenticity. Technological preparation is continuing in the post offices, so we are boldly and responsibly moving towards January 1st and I believe that "Bulgarian Posts" will be prepared for this challenge. All employees who will exchange currency were specifically trained in this aspect and the cashiers who will work in the city stations, because, as you know, we will not exchange currency in the city stations. There, colleagues will work directly with the new currency from January 1st in order to comply with the law. All colleagues who have undergone training, I believe, are already aware - they saw, touched, got acquainted with the types of banknotes, their structure, their authenticity. Video surveillance is being installed for maximum security", added Dragova.

According to the manager, the training of employees is a key priority, with the main goal being to ensure that everyone is well acquainted with the new banknotes and can distinguish them. Technological preparation is another important aspect of the process, including the updating of equipment and the adaptation of systems. In the city stations, employees will start working directly with the new currency from January 1st, complying with legal requirements. The headquarters of "Bulgarian Posts" are confident that they are ready to meet the challenge.
