Bulgaria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.8 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year and by 0.7 percent compared to the previous quarter, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) announced today.
The institution revised the data slightly upward from its initial estimate. The previous estimate indicated a growth of 2.7 percent on an annual basis and 0.6 percent on a quarterly basis. Records from the NSI show that in the first quarter of the year, GDP grew by 2.9 percent compared to the first quarter of the previous year and by 0.7 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2025.
The statistical office also reported the distribution of resources in the second quarter of 2026, with 79.0 percent of GDP going toward final consumption. Meanwhile, investments accounted for 23.0 percent of GDP, and the foreign trade balance of goods and services was negative.
