Fuel prices in Bulgaria rose 42.2% in September 2026 from a year earlier, the latest Eurostat data show. That is the biggest annual rise in the European Union.
Estonia and Lithuania are next, also with rises of more than 40%. Fuel prices went up 40.6% in Estonia and 40.2% in Lithuania.

Hungary had the smallest rise, at 6.9%. It is followed by Ireland with 17.7% and Sweden with 19.9%, so the increase stayed below 20% in all three.
