The pipeline in Varna Lake has suffered another accident, announced today the Deputy Mayor of Varna Municipality, Plamen Kitipov. The incident raises serious questions regarding the state of the infrastructure and the potential consequences for the environment.

The news comes at a time when the public is particularly sensitive to topics related to pollution and the preservation of natural resources. The accident creates conditions for a predisposition to pollution with domestic wastewater, which causes concern among local residents and environmentalists.

According to information received from the operator of the „Asparuhovo“ sewage pumping station, yesterday, at around 3 PM, a drop in pressure in the pipeline was registered. By 5 PM, there was no pressure, which indicates a critical condition. It is obvious that this has led to the leakage of wastewater into the lake, which poses a serious threat to the ecosystem.

This morning, the emergency operations vessel of the construction company carried out an investigation of the area to determine the cause of the accident. It was found that a connection between two sections of the temporary pipeline had shifted, which led to uncontrolled leakage.

The likely cause of the incident, according to Deputy Mayor Kitipov, is the turbulence in the bottom zone, caused by the passage of a large ship with deep draft on Sunday afternoon. This raises questions about the planning and maintenance of infrastructure in areas with intensive shipping traffic.

The emergency team immediately started restoring the temporary pipeline. The work to repair the damage is carried out against the background of the tension caused by the potential environmental consequences.

The Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water (RIOSV) announced that samples for chemical analysis were taken at noon. They will be examined for phosphates and other compounds. The results are expected in the coming days. This analysis will help to determine the degree of pollution and to take the necessary measures to limit the damage.

Varna Municipality informs that all steps have been taken in accordance with the adopted Emergency Plan. Public information will be updated in accordance with the progress of the restoration of the pipeline. The public is eagerly awaiting further details about the measures taken and the deadlines for restoring the normal functioning of the infrastructure.
