The Social Assistance Agency (SAA) has paid out over 3.7 million euros in one-time financial aid for students in the first, second, third, fourth, and eighth grades. The agency announced this, specifying that the amount of financial support, as set out in the 2026 State Budget Act, is 153.39 euros.
The total sum has been distributed according to the level of education. In July and August, 3,265,815 euros were paid out for primary school students, while funds for eighth-graders enrolled for the 2026-2027 school year amounted to 445,406 euros. SAA data shows that a total of 98,239 orders were issued for the primary stage, covering 108,726 children, with 355 applications denied. For the eighth grade, 17,871 orders were approved for 18,250 students, with 81 denials.
The payment mechanism provides for the funds to be disbursed in two installments. The first half of the amount is transferred between the 15th and the end of the month following the month in which the order was issued. The remaining 50 percent is provided in the month following the start of the second school term, provided the child continues their education.
Bulgarian Posts added that post offices continue to accept applications for student aid for the respective grades. Details regarding the conditions and application procedures are published on the official website of the Social Assistance Agency.
