"Bulgaria is strong not when it maneuvers between positions, but when it is a predictable partner guided by firm principles," asserts Andrey Gyurov, a Member of Parliament from "We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria." In a recent Facebook post, he expressed a position prompted by President Rumen Radev's claim that Europe "will struggle to exist for long against Russia." For Gyurov, such words are "particularly alarming" against the backdrop of the hybrid attacks that Germany is already facing on its own territory—a circumstance he identifies as a serious warning signal for the entire continent.

According to the MP, now is the time to choose clear positions and partners, rather than questioning the European Union's sanctions policy. Gyurov supports his argument by noting that NATO and EU allies are already detecting drones over their military facilities. In response to the President, he states: "It was not Europe that chose to be 'against' Russia – Russia chose to be against international law when it invaded Ukraine." In his post, the MP adds that the imposed sanctions are by no means an end in themselves, but rather a tool through which Europe demonstrates that aggression has a price and seeks to preserve its unity against attempts at pressure.

For Gyurov, maintaining a consistent line regarding common European measures is a guarantee for national interest and a way to build trust. He reminds us that our country has been part of a united Europe for nearly 20 years and warns that any actions undermining shared positions are, in effect, "strikes against the foundations upon which our development and prosperity rest."

In conclusion, Andrey Gyurov calls on Bulgarian society to act responsibly in the face of the current geopolitical situation. He appeals to citizens "to realize the historical moment we are in and to uphold our place among those who are building unity and a common future in Europe."
