Tomorrow, September 19, from 10:00 AM at Troykata Square, the users of the Social Garden "Grijovnik" will celebrate World Alzheimer"s Day and Dementia.
The initiative, organized jointly by Burgas Municipality, Home Social Patronage, and the garden users themselves, aims to draw attention to this important issue and change public perception of people suffering from dementia.
Until 11:30 AM, an information tent will be located on the square. There, visitors will be able to receive free purple bracelets – a symbol of solidarity with people affected by dementia, as well as information materials explaining the significance of the initiative. Hundreds of citizens are expected to visit the square to participate in the event. The atmosphere is expected to be filled with emotions and a sense of common cause.
The users of "Grijovnik" will show in a categorical way that people with dementia are not just people with memory problems. They will demonstrate that they possess valuable skills and resources capable of bringing a positive charge to society.
- The event will include a presentation of the talents of people with dementia, including preparing and distributing homemade cookies,
- dance performances
- and light gymnastics demonstrations.
This will serve as clear evidence that an active lifestyle and social support can significantly improve the quality of life of those affected.
The official celebration of World Alzheimer"s Day and Dementia, September 21, will be marked by illuminating the Bridge and the light panel of Troykata Square in purple – the international symbol of the fight against dementia. This is not only a beautiful sight but also a strong symbol of public awareness of the problem.
The main goal of these initiatives is to raise public awareness about dementia, encourage support for affected people and their families, and reduce the prejudices and stigma that often surround this disease. The organizers hope to contribute to the creation of a more tolerant and understanding society that accepts people with dementia not as burdened, but as valuable members of the community.
