The Employment Agency (AZ) is introducing a change in the procedure for submitting documents for short-term seasonal employment of up to 90 days for citizens of third countries, the agency announced on its website. They point out that this is necessary because of "frequent signals, coming from both citizens and law enforcement agencies, about abuse of work permits".

From now on, declarations will be submitted only electronically.

The electronic submission and processing of documents significantly speeds up the process and facilitates administrative procedures for both businesses and the administration, the AZ commented to BTA regarding the change. The full digitalization of submitted documents for registration of seasonal employment up to 90 days will allow easier distribution for processing, the elimination of the need to scan documents by AZ employees, as well as the possibility of automating checks by using the National Labor Market Database, the agency explained. And they emphasized that the electronic submission and receipt of documents will also save employers courier service costs.

The Employment Agency pointed out that they cannot comment on specific signals of abuse because checks are being carried out by the competent authorities.

What the new procedure provides for

The change is in effect from Tuesday, April 14th. The standard declaration is submitted only electronically via the secure electronic delivery system under Art. 26, para. 5 of the Electronic Governance Act or through the Platform for the production of residence and work permits.

The documents are submitted signed with an electronic signature by the representative of the employer or a person authorized by him, for which purpose a power of attorney is also attached, the AZ informed.

Seasonal employment in numbers

From the beginning of 2026 to the present, the Employment Agency has admitted a total of 21,570 citizens of third countries, of which 13,499 are seasonal workers.

AZ employees have reviewed 2,267 applications for seasonal employment of up to 90 days, of which 622 were submitted electronically through the Platform for the production and issuance of work permits for foreigners.

Short-term seasonal employment of 10,189 citizens of third countries has been registered, which represents 53% of the total number of seasonal workers under the same procedure for 2025 (19,057).
