An 85-year-old man was seriously injured with a knife last night in the Sea Garden in Varna and is currently fighting for his life in intensive care. The victim is Vasil Tepedelenev, well known to the people of Varna for swimming in the sea every day for years, regardless of the season.

The attack was carried out around 9:30 p.m. in an underpass on Knyaz Boris I boulevard, in the section between the "Akatsiya" and "Dolphinarium" stops, from the side of the Sea Garden.

After the attack, Tepedelenev managed to contact his grandson by phone, who immediately reported the incident to the police. The case also became public through a post on social networks by the grandson, in which the alleged perpetrator was described. According to him, this is a man of an approximate age between 40 and 50 years, covered in tattoos, with a height of about 1.70 meters. After inflicting the knife blows on Vasil Tepedelenev, the attacker retreated in the direction of the "Pochivka" stop.

Multiple stab wounds were found on Tepedelenev's body. He was rushed to the multi-profile hospital "St. Anna", where doctors performed a six-hour operation. The injured man is currently in the intensive care unit, is on assisted ventilation and his life remains in serious danger.

The motives for the brutal attack remain unclear for now. The attacker has not yet been apprehended and continues to be sought by the police. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the attempted murder.
