A 68-year-old driver is in a critical condition in Burgas University Hospital after a crash under the overpass on the Trakia motorway, on the road to Kameno. Witnesses said the crash happened minutes ago.
They said the man was driving towards Kameno when he saw several people by the road bending down to pick walnuts. He decided to stop and pick some too.
He braked hard and at once put his car in reverse, without checking whether the road behind him was clear. His car hit a Toyota that was moving behind him.
The driver was hurt the worst. He was pulled from his crushed car and rushed to the emergency room, where doctors are fighting for his life.
Witnesses said the Toyota is two or three months old and was damaged in the crash.
