All 653 voting machines in Burgas region have been sent to polling stations and tested, and the rooms have been sealed ahead of tomorrow's election. That is 54 more machines than at the last vote.

Members of polling station commissions in Burgas were trained to use the machines this week.

The final check before dispatch took place at a secret warehouse in Burgas, under tighter security. Staff checked that each machine was meant for the right polling station. The machines were split into 19 routes and travelled to polling stations across the region under police escort.

In Burgas, the machines were tested at the polling stations, and by late afternoon the rooms had been sealed. Petko Kalev of Siela Norma said a technician opens the machine on arrival and checks it in front of the commission. It is then closed and stays that way until election day.

Kalev said one technician may look after five machines or just one, depending on how many machines and polling stations there are. On election day, 174 specialists will be able to step in if a technical problem arises.

Election papers are already with the polling station commissions, and today is the day of reflection.

Unlike at the last elections, the Burgas commissions have so far had no emergency replacements. In polling station 40, all members have worked at past elections and the room is ready. Chair Daniela Kodzhabasheva does not expect last-minute changes to the team. She told BNT the commission is setting up the cameras today, locking the rooms and sealing the windows with tape.

About 1,050 police officers will keep order and guard the vote in Burgas, and Burgas police have called in almost all their staff. Risk areas have been identified and will have more officers, Commissioner Dimitar Dacheva, head of the Burgas "Security Police", told BNT.

This year, polling station commissions must stamp the receipt from the machine vote before the voter drops it into the special box.

The Central Election Commission said a receipt without a stamp will not affect the result.
