Over 240 residents of Burgas region declared their income to the National Revenue Agency (NRA) in the first four days of the tax campaign for 2026. The territorial directorate of the revenue agency in the seaside city announced that since the start of the campaign on January 10th, a total of 243 annual tax returns have been received.

The NRA's statistics in Burgas show that most citizens still prefer the traditional way to contact the administration. A total of 135 people have personally visited the customer service hall to submit their documents on the spot. At the same time, the trend towards digitalization is maintained, with 105 declarations sent electronically, and only three residents of the region have used the services of a postal operator.

This year's campaign is taking place under the sign of Bulgaria's accession to the Eurozone, which introduces a new mechanism for payments with the budget, added the revenue agency. Although the income received during the past year 2025 is declared in leva, the tax on them is now paid cashless in euros. The NRA Burgas clarifies that when paying via online systems or at a POS terminal in the agency's office, the amounts are reflected directly in the European currency. The possibility of payment in leva remains only for transfers through a bank branch in January, as the amounts are automatically converted upon their arrival in the state's accounts.

The 5 percent discount on the tax for payment remains in effect this year, with its maximum amount set at 255.65 euros, which equals 500 leva. To take advantage of it, taxpayers must submit their declaration electronically and pay their obligations to the budget by March 31, provided that they have no other unpaid public debts.

The revenue agency in Burgas reminds that the deadline for declaring the income of individuals is April 30. For the convenience of citizens, free wireless internet and technical devices are provided in the Service Hall, and the employees provide full assistance to customers when submitting documents via a personal identification code (PIC) or electronic signature.

BTA recalls that recently Burgas Municipality announced that it had begun preparations for the annual taxation with property tax, household waste fee and vehicle tax for 2026. Currently, technological processing of data for properties, cars and household waste is being carried out through the information systems of the Ministry of Finance. The municipality reminded that citizens who pay the full amount of their obligations by April 30 will receive a 5 percent discount. The standard deadlines for payment of the due installments are until June 30 and until October 31.
