Voting to choose the judges' members of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) began normally in Burgas. In all, 120 judges from the city and region can vote, and Burgas has one candidate.

Judges from the appellate, regional, administrative and district courts in the judicial district vote at polling station No. 2 in the Palace of Justice.

A commission of three full and three reserve members runs the vote at the station. Its full members come from the Burgas Regional, Administrative and District courts.

Judges across Bulgaria are electing six members of the new SJC from 21 candidates. The vote is part of the election of the judges' quota on the council.

On 24 October we reported that prosecutors were choosing four SJC members from 25 candidates. Four of the candidates were from the Burgas judicial district, including Burgas deputy appellate prosecutor Yovita Grigorova.

The SJC is the staffing body of the judiciary. It helps run the justice system, makes staffing decisions and is responsible for the professional development of judges and prosecutors.
