Firefighters in Bulgaria put out 120 fires in the past 24 hours, and one person died in one of them, the interior ministry says. Crews from the fire safety and civil protection directorate took 161 calls in total.
Twenty-four of the fires caused damage. Nine broke out in homes and one in a factory building. Four hit vehicles, one burned in a forest and two broke out on farmland. One hit outdoor equipment, and six were at other types of sites.
The other 96 fires caused no damage. In 62 cases, dry grass, forest litter or bushes were burning. Twenty-two involved waste, two broke out in stubble fields, one involved cooking equipment and chimneys, and nine fell into other categories.
Firefighters also took part in 33 rescue and support jobs. In 23 of them, they helped other interior ministry teams, and eight came after road crashes. In two cases, they helped people in distress. There were eight false alarms.
