Organised crime police have detained a man in Ruse on suspicion of holding fentanyl for sale. The raid was on 17 October 2026, and the man has been charged.

The organised crime unit (GDBOP) in Ruse carried out the operation with the regional Interior Ministry directorate. The man tried to run and throw away the drug when he was detained, but officers seized a package of 62 grams of fentanyl.

At his permanent address, officers found electronic scales and about one more gram of the substance.

A pre-trial case has been opened for possession of a high-risk drug with intent to distribute, under Article 354a(1) of the Criminal Code. Ruse District Prosecutor's Office is supervising the investigation.

The supervising prosecutor has ordered the man held in custody for up to 72 hours.
