Bulgaria's organised crime police have broken up a gang that smuggled fake perfume and fake clothes from well-known brands in from Turkey and sold them on its own website without paying tax. The Interior Ministry says orders brought in more than €1m over two years.

Police raided the gang on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, and detained four men aged 32 to 49, none with a criminal record. The supervising prosecutor later charged three of them.

The website posted photos of original products and low prices, which misled buyers. Orders reached customers through a courier firm.

The gang split the work into four roles: organising imports from Turkey, packing parcels at the office to fill customers' orders, taking them to the freight firm's office, and running the website.

Police searched six addresses, including warehouses, offices and private properties. They found 223 boxes of perfume, 110 sacks of imitation clothes and more than €10,000 in cash. The goods in stock come to nearly 5,000 items.

Pre-trial proceedings have been opened under Article 321, paragraph 6 of the Criminal Code, under the supervision of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
