Commemorations of the 189th Anniversary of the Apostle's Birth

On July 18, Bulgaria marks 189 years since the birth of Vasil Levski. The Ministry of Defense announced that representative military units, the Land Forces, the Air Force, the Navy, the Joint Special Operations Command, the Logistics Support Command, and the National Guards Unit will take part in the commemorative events.

Culmination in Karlovo

The Apostle's hometown, Karlovo, is the center of the celebrations. At 8:00 p.m., a solemn rally and tattoo will take place at "Vasil Levski" Square with the participation of the 61st Stryama Mechanized Brigade.

Program by city:

  • Sofia: 11:00 a.m. – military ritual in front of the monument in Borisova Gradina.
  • Plovdiv: 10:00 a.m. – ceremony at Bunardzhika with the participation of the Air Force and the Joint Special Operations Command.
  • Lovech: 7:00 p.m. – commemorative ceremony and memorial service at the "Assumption of the Mother of God" Church.
  • Varna: 10:00 a.m. – military ritual and prayer service in the Sea Garden.
  • Burgas: 11:00 a.m. – solemn ritual in Primorski Park.

Commemorations will also be held in Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Pleven, Asenovgrad, Blagoevgrad, and Gorna Oryahovitsa.
