Two strategic projects of the Pomorie municipality were approved for financing under the Marine Activities, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Program for the period 2021-2027. The investments are aimed at modernizing the fishing port in Pomorie and the boat dock in Aheloy.
A large-scale renovation is upcoming at the Pomorie fishing port, including the installation of a floating breakwater at the entrance, a new pontoon pier, and a service vessel. Additional improvements include the delivery of a forklift for servicing and specialized waste management equipment.
The project in Aheloy covers a comprehensive renovation of existing infrastructure - reinforcement of low railings, rock protection, paving along the pier and parking area. The introduction of modern technical equipment is planned, including an ice generator, horizontal freezer chamber, and three office containers with solar installation.
Mayor Ivan Alekseev emphasized the systematic approach to developing local fishing infrastructure. "Although the fishing port is only 9 years old, we continuously renovate and expand it," he stated. Alekseev added that five months ago, the boat dock in Aheloy received a long-awaited operating permit.
The new facilities will include modern video surveillance systems, software for catch monitoring and reporting, as well as additional equipment for waste storage and processing. The projects demonstrate the municipality's targeted efforts to improve working conditions for local fishermen.
