The monumental bronze work "The Compass" rises as a landmark urban orientation point in the central part of Burgas, known among locals as "The Navel". This architectural element, designed by specialist Vladimir Milkov and realized by sculptor Radostin Damaskov, possesses far more than purely aesthetic significance.

Located at the strategic intersection between "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and "Alexandrovska" streets, the object functions as the official zero kilometer of the city. Its GPS coordinates exactly match the geographical center, turning it into an ideal reference point for measuring distances to other settlements.

The visual composition includes an impressive bronze relief surface with meaningful images – a ship, a laurel wreath, fish, and a trident. The decorative mosaic around the monument is filled with compass rays and contains bilingual inscriptions: "BURGAS 2011" and "EUROPE" in Latin and Cyrillic scripts.

The official opening of the renovated urban space and the installation of "The Compass" takes place in August 2011, marking an important moment in the urban development of the seaside city. The work becomes a symbolic marker of modern Burgas – dynamic, European, and oriented towards the future.
