A specialized police operation to combat drug trafficking led to the seizure of 340 kg of high-risk narcotics at the entrance to Burgas. This is one of the most significant drug seizures recorded outside of a port or border checkpoint. The operation was carried out on September 4, following several months of surveillance by the Counter-Smuggling Directorate of the General Directorate of Border Police, in coordination with their colleagues in Burgas.

At approximately 1:00 p.m., a truck with Sofia registration plates was stopped. A search of the vehicle revealed bags containing 110 packages of cocaine and 230 packages of marijuana, each weighing about one kilogram. According to investigators, the value of the drugs is estimated at between 12 and 15 million euros at judicial valuation prices.

The truck driver, a Bulgarian citizen with no prior criminal record, has been detained. He has been charged with possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, and law enforcement is investigating potential accomplices. Details regarding the case were provided by the Director of the General Directorate of Border Police, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, the supervising prosecutor Svetoslav Marinchev, and the Administrative Head of the District Prosecutor's Office – Burgas, Georgi Chinev.

The investigation will proceed to establish the purity of the substances, the origin of the goods, and whether the shipment was intended for transit or the domestic market. Within the last two months alone, over 500 kilograms of high-risk narcotics have been seized in the Burgas region as part of three pre-trial proceedings.
