More than 700 police teams have been deployed across the national road network to ensure safety and assist with traffic on the last of the three-day holiday weekend around September 6th. The expectations of the Traffic Police for extreme congestion on the main arteries leading to major cities have been met, with routes used by those returning from Greece and the Trakia motorway remaining particularly critical.

The most serious tension is being observed along the Southern Black Sea coast, where adverse weather conditions have forced thousands of tourists to cut their vacations short. This mass departure has led to the formation of kilometers-long queues on the route from Tsarevo through Sozopol towards Burgas. Traffic jams are beginning within the limits of Tsarevo itself, before vehicles even merge onto the main road, and circulated footage shows dense lines of cars moving at significantly reduced speeds.

The situation is further exacerbated by temporary traffic management on road II-99. According to information from the Road Infrastructure Agency, traffic is restricted to a single lane in the area of the 55th kilometer. This is due to the narrowed clearance of an arched bridge, where passage is regulated by traffic lights. To ensure driver safety, a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour has been introduced in this specific section.
