A two-storey brick house in the village of Balabanchevo, in Sungurlare municipality, burned to the ground on the morning of 21 October, Burgas regional police said.

Officers examined the site after the fire and found no sign of arson. The cause has not been established.

The call reached Sungurlare police at about 8:30am. One fire engine and three firefighters were sent, but they could not save the house.

The owner is a 71-year-old man from Sungurlare. He was in the yard when the fire started and says no one else was nearby or in the building. Police report no injuries.

Sungurlare police are continuing their inquiry. The cost of the damage has yet to be assessed.
