Burgas hosted the fourth Wretched Feast death metal festival on 17 October at the Modern Theatre club, with five bands from five countries. Portugal's Analepsy headlined.
Hungary's Monastery opened the night with death metal that had a thick sound and a steady tempo. Local band Scolos followed, and the crowd at the front of the stage backed them throughout their set.
Inhuman Depravity played brutal death metal with grind, thrash and technical touches, and their vocals stood out. Romania's Cadavrul went for a dense, aggressive sound, with heavy instrumentals and vocals.
Analepsy played slamming brutal death metal and kept the crowd active for the whole set. Fans moshed and ran circle pits in front of the stage, and flags with the band's logo waved in the hall. After the show, the musicians posed for photos with fans.
The building's architecture, theatre lighting and dim atmosphere set the look of the evening, and the stage is close to the audience. The sound was good, and the bands changed over on time.
Prints of original works by RarT's Thoughts, an art project that made many of the Wretched Feast posters, were on show at the entrance. Tickets were also sold at the door, and band merchandise was on sale inside the club, on both sides of the stage.
After the concert, fans and musicians gathered at the Sha No. 5 pub.
The next Wretched Feast is on 16 October 2027, again at the Modern Theatre. Details are on the online event page.
