Specialized air machines from Sweden arrived to help local teams extinguish the raging fire in the Ilindentsi area. The official announcement was made by the mayor of Sandanski Municipality, Atanas Stoyanov, who emphasized the critical role of the newly arrived aircraft.
According to local administration, despite partial containment of the fire, it is not yet fully extinguished. Recent rainfall has significantly aided extinguishing efforts, but targeted actions to suppress the fire continue.
Operations are most intense in the Sandanski village of Lilyanova, where the terrain presents a serious challenge for rescue teams. The mayor assured that populated areas in the region are not currently exposed to direct danger.
Coordinated actions of various specialized groups continue - firefighters, forestry workers, and volunteers. Local authorities acknowledge the emotional tension among the population, which has experienced prolonged sleepless nights during the disaster.
The main hope is placed on Swedish aircraft, which have a greater water supply capacity. They are expected to play a key role in the final extinguishing of the fire and the recovery of the area.
