Active flood protection measures in Burgas

As part of the disaster risk reduction program, teams from the RDSCPB - Burgas and Burgas Municipality undertook large-scale cleaning activities on the riverbed of the Marinka river, in the area of the "Chernitsite" villa zone.

Mechanized cleaning of riverbeds and drainage canals is a key element of the municipality's strategy to prevent flooding during heavy rainfall.

What does the campaign include?

  • Removal of accumulated vegetation, sediment, and household waste.
  • Use of specialized equipment to access hard-to-reach areas.
  • Systematic planning of activities through the Preventive Disaster Risk Reduction Program.

At the moment, a large part of the ravines and riverbeds in the territory of the municipality have already undergone the necessary treatment. The local administration assures that the overall prevention activity will be completed by the end of October.
