Poets Ina Ivanova and Diana Savateva will read their work at the Georgi Baev hall of the Morsko Kazino Cultural Centre in Burgas on 17 October at 6.30pm.

The event is part of the "Poetic Replies" series and is in the programme of the Autumn Literary Festival, which marks its 30th anniversary this year. The evening is titled "Intact Worlds and Bright Apocalypses".

Ivanova will present "Intact World", her newest book, which is on the long list for the Pero award for best poetry book of 2026. The award is run by the literary club of the same name. Savateva congratulates her on making the list.

Savateva started the series and has written four poetry books. On stage she will act partly as a counterpoint and partly as host. She will read a text from the book she is working on and draw parallels with Ivanova's poetry. Both poets write about human experience, memory and the world around us, each from a different point of view.

Savateva has had the idea for the book since 2003. For now it is called "Befriending the Apocalypse", and she says this working title will most likely stay. "It was supposed to come out before my book of short literary forms, but 'The Trefoil' simply hit the gas and left it no chance," she told Bulgarian National Radio.

She said the idea of a shared evening with Ivanova came up during a visit to Plovdiv. "Poetic Replies" is held only twice a year because "everything you do needs to be nurtured", she told Bulgarian National Radio.

The Autumn Literary Festival in Burgas began on 1 October and runs until 30 October. Events are held at the Writers' House, the P. K. Yavorov Regional Library and the Morsko Kazino Cultural Centre. On 17 October the event starts at 6.30pm.

Besides the two poets, university students from Burgas campuses and instrumentalists from the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National School of Music and Dance Arts will perform on stage.
