The children's hospital in Burgas will likely begin its activity in the active summer season. This was stated to BTA by Dr. Blagomir Zdravkov, director of the Specialized Hospital for Active Treatment of Children's Diseases "Prof. Ivan Mitev".

Dr. Zdravkov participated in the 13th National Health Forum NextGen Health, organized by the magazine "Manager". Dr. Zdravkov won the competition for the director's position at the children's hospital in Burgas "St. Anastasia".

Now is a period in which we are waiting, if there is an appeal of the competition procedure, and then a contract is signed, with a certain deadline in which I must release the position of executive director of the capital's hospital, he explained. The hospital in Burgas still does not have a permit to operate, he recalled. According to him, the children's hospital would open its doors when all regulatory requirements are met, when all inspections are carried out by the Executive Agency "Medical Supervision" and by the Regional Health Inspectorate - Burgas, as well as when the Ministry of Health gives the "green light".

We would open when there is clarity that all activities with which we will start will be secured, including with staff, which is very likely to happen in the active tourist season. According to him, this would be a big challenge.

Asked what made him apply for the competition in Burgas, Dr. Zdravkov pointed out that the "St. Anastasia" hospital offers a solution to the biggest problem in children's healthcare - the lack of complexity.

The topic of the children's hospital in Burgas was also commented on to journalists by the caretaker Minister of Health, Assoc. Prof. Mihail Okoliyski, who also pointed out that the medical facility still does not have a permit to operate. My first meeting as a minister was with Dr. Zdravkov, so that I could ensure the continuity of care for children, Assoc. Prof. Okoliyski said, adding that Dr. Zdravkov has undertaken to be the director of the capital's children's hospital while Assoc. Prof. Okoliyski is a caretaker minister.
