Prima ballerina Boryana Petrova and premier ballet dancer Emil Yordanov from the Sofia Opera and Ballet will perform the main roles in the ballet "Swan Lake" on the stage of the State Opera - Burgas. The event is scheduled for November 3rd, the cultural institution announced.
The performance, which is prepared to the music of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, will be revived before the Burgas audience. This happens after a large-scale national tour, covering over twenty-five Bulgarian cities. The tour was held between the end of 2023 and the summer of 2025.
The direction and choreography are based on the classical versions created by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The assistant director of the performance is Vesa Tonova.
The soloists of the Burgas Opera, Teodor Tsakov, who will embody the role of Rothbart, and Anelia Ivanova, who will perform the role of the Queen, will also participate on stage. Shun Kawafune will also take part, as well as the artists from the ballet troupe.
The scenography is the work of Ivan Tokadjiev, and the costumes are prepared by the late Tsvetanka Petkova-Stoynova.
According to Prof. Hikmet Mehmedov, the production presents "a combination of classical choreography with a modern vision and philosophical interpretation, in which good prevails".
