The Yambol Puppet Theatre "Georgi Mitev – Zhoro" will stage "The Dwarf Long-Nose" at the Burgas Puppet Theatre on Saturday, October 10, at 11:00, organisers of the Port Prim Art Fest say.
The show is the children's event of the arts festival, now in its ninth year. Grand Hotel and Spa Primoretz is running the festival, with backing from Burgas council.
The play is based on the classic tale by Wilhelm Hauff. Yuri Dachev adapted it for the stage, Borislav P. Petranov directs, and Hanna Schwartz designed the sets and puppets. Composer Vladimir Karparov wrote the original score, and Dimitar Peychev did the choreography. The cast includes Irina Shumelova, Valentin Metodiev, Hristo Petev and Stiliyan Slavov.
The story follows a boy named Jacob, whom an evil sorceress turns into an ugly dwarf with a huge nose. Organisers say its message is that kindness, a pure heart and true friendship win out over evil spells.
The show is meant for children over 4, but organisers say adults will enjoy it too for its depth, visuals and humour. They picked the time to leave room for a relaxed Saturday morning before the performance.
Tickets are now on sale at the "Chasovnika" box office.
