Students from the first master's program in photography at the branch of the National Academy of Arts (NAA) in Burgas defended their diploma projects in front of an audience. In the form of an exhibition in the “Atelier” gallery in Magazia 1, the creative results of the first master's candidates in the specialty, who began their studies in 2024, were presented.

The director of the NAA branch, Prof. Svetozar Benchev, pointed out that the results presented today deserve to be shared with the public. According to him, the students in this class come from various bachelor's programs, including outside the Academy, but have shown a serious attitude in the preparatory process.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Kyuranov, a lecturer in the program, noted that some of the graduates have chosen to work entirely in the field of analog photography and the manual copying of photos.

“This is classical photography, in which there has been a serious interest in recent years. The results make it possible to compare the modern possibilities of technology with those of the past,” said Assoc. Prof. Kyuranov.

He added that the concept of the program is based on the mixing of visual principles from different arts. The aim is for students who have graduated from different specializations to apply their experience in artistic and conceptual photography, which, according to him, distinguishes the teaching methodology at the Academy.

The master's program “Photography” has been offered at the NAA branch in Burgas since 2024. It is the third that the educational institution develops in the city, and the program itself has existed in the structure of the NAA for over 10 years.
