The head of the refugee agency with an unprecedented personal meeting

In an exceptional gesture of institutional openness, the head of the migration agency Ivan Ivanov took an unprecedented step – to personally communicate with refugees seeking international protection on Bulgarian territory.

During an official meeting with a specific Syrian family, Ivanov personally handed over decisions on their applications, demonstrating a new approach to refugee policy. "I sincerely hope you adapt quickly and find your personal happiness here in Bulgaria," he said with warmth and understanding.

The family responded with exceptional gratitude, sharing: "Thank you for the support, for giving us the opportunity to start a new life here. We now accept Bulgaria as our new home".

In a detailed conversation, it became clear that the wife is an English language teacher, and the husband is a construction engineer. They firmly stated their desire to stay in the country, emphasizing that their children have already settled and are living successfully in Bulgaria.

At this landmark meeting, the deputy chairpersons of the State Agency for Refugees – Nikola Kazakov and Yanita Manolova, were also present, supporting their leader's innovative approach.
