The police in Burgas reported a busy 24 hours with thefts, drug distribution, traffic accidents, and tragic incidents involving drowning victims.

Stormy nights and tense days in Burgas: Minor crimes and tragic incidents marked the past 24 hours.

Burgas - A busy 24 hours for the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Burgas. The police's information bulletin recorded a total of three thefts, three other criminal offenses, one fire, and three road traffic accidents. As a result of the operational search activities conducted, eight police investigations have been initiated, and 17 crimes have been solved, which shows the active work of law enforcement.

Solved Crimes: From domestic disputes to drug trafficking

One of the most striking incidents occurred on August 19 at around 9:57 PM in the "Green Life" complex area. According to official information, a physical altercation that arose from a dispute over apartment rent escalated into a serious assault. The conflict was between a 33-year-old man who was renting out his property and two tourist brothers, aged 33 and 40. In the course of the heated argument, the landlord took out a knife to defend himself from the brothers, but in an attempt to prevent more serious consequences, his 35-year-old girlfriend intervened. Unfortunately, during the clash, the woman suffered a cut wound under her right breast.

The injured woman was immediately transported to UMBAL - Burgas, where she was examined and, after it was determined that the injury was superficial and did not require surgical intervention, she was released for home treatment. All three men were detained for up to 24 hours. A pre-trial investigation has been opened on the case, which should clarify all the circumstances surrounding the dramatic incident.

In Sozopol, law enforcement also carried out two successful operations against drug trafficking. On August 20, at around 2:00 AM, during a search in a private apartment in the same "Green Life" complex, block 4, occupied by a 33-year-old man from Sofia, police found and seized 15 grams of dried marijuana leaf mass. A fast-track proceeding was initiated on the case. Later the same day, at around 2:00 PM, during a check at the home of a 47-year-old resident of Sozopol with a criminal record on "Vitosha" street, officers seized bags with a total of about 20 grams of a white and brownish crystalline substance, identified as methamphetamine, as well as about 4 grams of dried plant mass, likely cannabis. The man was detained for 24 hours.

The Burgas police from the First Regional Department also had success. They detained a 42-year-old Burgas man with a criminal record who had committed two bicycle thefts. On June 16, from a private home on "Slavyanska" street, he stole a bicycle worth 2,000 BGN, and on July 24, from an apartment building on "Konstantin Fotinov" street, he took another bicycle for 107 BGN. During the interrogation, the man made a full confession.

Fire and Road Traffic Accidents

On August 20 at around 6:00 PM in the village of Tsarkovski near Karnobat, a fire broke out in a house owned by a 48-year-old woman. The house was inhabited by her 80-year-old parents. A team of three firefighters extinguished the fire, but the roof structure was completely burned down. The owner's 80-year-old father was also injured in the incident, suffering second-degree burns on his hands and was taken to UMBAL - Burgas. The main cause of the incident is cited as improper handling of a gas cylinder.

Three road traffic accidents were registered during the day, two of which were in the Burgas area. One of the crashes occurred on August 20, at around 9:28 AM, at the intersection of "Slivnitsa" and "Patriarch Evtimiy" streets. A "Seat Ibiza" car, driven by a 27-year-old Burgas man, failed to stop at a "STOP" sign and hit a passing "Honda Accord" driven by a 40-year-old woman. As a result of the collision, two passengers in the "Honda" car - a 42-year-old woman and a 7-year-old girl - suffered neck and chest contusions.

On the Burgas - Varna road, near the 203.5 km mark, a 55-year-old Moldovan citizen, a permanent resident of Nesebar, caused an accident by failing to yield to a "Renault Captur" moving on the main road. The driver, a 45-year-old man from Pernik, suffered a contusion to his left arm, and his passenger suffered one to her cervical vertebrae.

The third incident involved a cart, which on August 20 at around 6:37 PM in the Karnobat village of Ekzarh Antimovo, left the road and crashed into a roadside curb. The 39-year-old man who was driving it fell and injured his groin area. The driver's alcohol test registered 1.40 per mille.

Tragedies on the Beaches and in the Sea

The summer season continues to claim its victims. In less than a day, four people drowned in the Burgas area. On August 20 at around 12:10 PM on the beach near the "Kavatsi-yug" campsite, a 72-year-old woman from Sofia drowned in the sea. Almost simultaneously, at around 4:30 PM, a signal was received about an incident on the northern beach of Primorsko, where a 35-year-old Czech tourist lost his life.

The tragedies continued later in the day, when at around 5:50 PM on the unguarded "Silistar" beach, a 41-year-old man from Sofia drowned.

On the same day, at around 5:45 PM, on the beach in front of the "Bellevue" hotel in Sunny Beach, a 13-year-old girl from Moldova was pulled out of the sea in critical condition. According to her parents, she stumbled on the waves, was briefly submerged, after which she likely had a panic attack and fainted. The girl was transported urgently to UMBAL - Burgas, where she was admitted to the intensive care unit on a ventilator with a life-threatening condition.

All the bodies of the deceased have been transported for autopsy to the "Forensic Medicine" department at UMBAL - Burgas. The police continue their work to clarify the circumstances surrounding each of the tragic incidents.
