Burgas will host the eighth edition of the educational initiative “Kinoklas Burgas”, which will take place from January 26 to March 27, 2026, the organizers from the team of “Sofia Film Fest on the Coast” announced.

The Kinoklas is aimed at young people aged between 12 and 22 with an interest in cinema. Under the guidance of director Nadezhda Koseva, the participants will have the opportunity to create their first short film project – an interpretation of an episode from a contemporary Bulgarian film.

The training includes online and in-person theoretical lectures, practical exercises with professional equipment, work in a film crew and filming a short film. Meetings with professionals from the film industry are also planned. Participants will also have access to all screenings from the program of the upcoming 24th edition of “Sofia Film Fest on the Coast”, as well as the opportunity to participate in the Youth Jury of the festival.

For the third consecutive year, the training will have an individual competitive character. Participants will be evaluated at the different stages of the work, and at the end of the course, one of them will be chosen to participate in a film festival or film school in 2026. The organizers also provide for three places for young people outside Burgas, covering the costs of their accommodation.

The program of the Kinoklas is divided into several stages – online training and preparation in January and February, filming process in Burgas at the end of February and the beginning of March, editing and announcement of the new Youth Jury online, as well as in-person participation in the festival program of “Sofia Film Fest on the Coast” in the second half of March. The premiere of the created short film will take place during the festival or at a later date.

Nadezhda Koseva was born in 1974 in Sofia. She graduated in directing from the NATFA “Krastyu Sarafov” in the class of Prof. Georgi Dyulgerov. Her short films include “The Ritual”, “Omelet”, “Second Take” and “The Old Man and the Sea”. Her feature film debut “Irina” is from 2018, and her second feature film “Trap” had its international premiere in 2023 and Bulgarian premiere within the framework of “Sofia Film Fest” in 2024.
