A community centre in Burgas, "St. St. Cyril and Methodius 1985", has launched two contests for children: one for reciting a poem, one for writing a letter by hand. Both are open to individual entries.

The first contest covers the region and marks November 1, the Day of the Bulgarian Enlighteners. Children recite a poem written by or about the enlighteners and send in a video of themselves. Kids aged 4 to 10 from kindergartens and primary schools can enter.

Entries are open until October 22, 2026, and go to [email protected]. Judges will score three things: expression, diction and stage presence.

The second contest, called "Letter to My Hero", is a writing contest. Children write by hand to someone they admire, want to be like, or want to tell something important. Organisers plan to publish the letters.

Any child from a kindergarten, school, community centre, personal development support centre or club can take part. Finished letters must reach the centre by November 17, 2026, at: 8011 Burgas, Meden Rudnik complex, bl. 25, ground floor.
